Who do YOU think should win a Russell ScOscar?

This week in Year 5 we have enjoyed Film-making Week! We have worked tirelessly in groups to write, direct, produce and perform our own movie versions of Romeo and Juliet. We have learnt so much about team work during this collaborative project!
On Monday morning we will be celebrating our hard work with a glitzy ScOscars ceremony. During the ceremony, we will be treated to popcorn and an exclusive screening of our films. Miss K will then be announcing the winners of the 2014 Russell ScOscars!
Please watch our amazing films and tell us which production companies deserve the Best Script, Best Producer and Best Director awards.
Don’t skip the credits in Starburst’s movie – there is a shock at the end!

Well done Year 5, here are your motion pictures!

Sneak preview of our entries for the Russell ScOscars!!

This week is film-making week in Year 5 with Miss K!
We came in on Monday morning to find an invite for the most star-studded and glamorous event of the year on our desks!
With Friday’s deadline looming, we spent all of Monday writing our scripts collaboratively.
Our films are due for public release this weekend, after a private screening during Friday’s ScOscars ceremony. In the meantime, here are the official trailers for our versions of the Shakespearean classic, Romeo and Juliet.

Today in Year 5 we watched the iconic fish tank scene from Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and wrote it as a scene for a play script! The results were great!

Year 5 are brilliant bloggers!

We were very excited to take part in today’s Tools to Tell a Tale blogging challenge, set by Deputy Mitchell, Pie Corbett and Tim Rylands. After morning play we eagerly refreshed the website to find that the prompt had been published! We then planned our writing in pairs (two of us even stayed in a at lunchtime to continue!)
We worked without any adult support and the only break we were allowed was a minute to take a #bloggingselfie! Scroll down to see our fantastic work! We particularly enjoyed using our Alan Peat sentence booklets to ensure our writing was the best it could be! All the teachers (and hopefully the World) are impressed with our brilliant efforts!

Bringing Alan Peat sentences to life!

Today in Year 5 we began our new Literacy unit on play scripts. We looked at images from productions of Romeo and Juliet and wrote some fantastic Alan Peat sentences.
We then used Tellagami and iMovie to bring the sentences to life! Check out our excellent work below:

Should Luis Suarez be banned from football?

Today in Year 5 we wrote a discussion arguing whether Luis Suarez should be banned for biting another player!

We used this Explain Everything presentation to generate reasons for and against the issue and McKenzie added a recording of his work to the end!
What do you think of Lucas’ work below? What do you like about it? What would you improve?
